Mal Chick is a Los Angeles based, and Massachusetts native nonbinary visual artist best known for their ceramic transmasculine figurative sculptures. Their study of human anatomy began in their doctorate of physical therapy program at Ithaca College. Since falling in love with the human figure from an artist perspective, they have craved representation of the many versions of trans figures beyond the cisgender male and female figures they consistently find in figure drawing courses. Their art explores the meaning and experience of being a transmasculine person. They are driven by the desire to be surrounded by queer beauty and consideration and to see art that tells the stories of transmasculine people. Their work has been displayed across Los Angeles including their self-portrait series, Transmasculine Regard, at DTLA ArtNight.

They earned Minors in Fine Art and Psychology from Ithaca College in 2017, and a Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2019. Mal’s work spans mediums including ceramics, oil painting, screen and lino printing and charcoal drawing.
